Message causes panic in Faridabad market

FARIDABAD: The city had its share of sensation when Sunny Singh (20) received an SMS which said "There will be a blast at 3 pm in Sector 15 market. Forward this message to all.''
Singh, a Sector 10 Faridabad resident, received the message from mobile number 9873658180. When he dialled back, the person, not revealing his identity, confirmed having sent the message.Singh called the Delhi police control room who then alerted the Faridabad police.
Singh forwarded the message to all numbers saved on his cellphone. The news spread like wildfire and the Sector 15 market was closed. The police arrived with sniffer dogs and the bomb disposal squad but, found nothing suspicious.
The call made to Singh was traced to one Jatin Gaur (20), a final year engineering student at Lingaya Institute of Management and Technology (LIMAT).
SSP Shrikant Jadhav told TOI, "We've been questioning Jatin about the basis of his message. So far, he has been unable to substantiate it. He admitted to having sent it not realizing its consequences.''
